The Language Point Level 6 Trinity CertPT for Language Educators

Trinity CertPT online, teacher development courses, Level 6 qualification

If you have a couple of years of experience teaching English as a Second Language, and you are looking to take your teaching to the next level, you may have been looking at post-graduate qualifications in the field. The Level 6 Trinity College London Certificate for Practising Teachers is designed as an accessible progression qualification in English language teaching.

The Trinity CertPT is regulated at level 6 on the Ofqual Framework, making it a natural progression from initial TEFL qualifications. It is accessible to teachers with a language proficiency of CEFR B2 (IELTS 6) and above, working in any setting where content is taught in English, to speakers of other languages.

This means that the course can be taken by teachers looking to develop their skills in teaching English for Specific and Academic Purposes, Business English, subject teaching in international schools, teacher training and development, teaching young learners, CLIL, English as an Additional Language and any other specific context within the TESOL / EAL industries.

The qualification is designed around principles of TESOL which can be applied in any of these settings, in recognition of the diverse nature of English Language Education today. Rather than being a course delivering generic content for all teachers, the CertPT focuses on the skills which you need in the institution where you work, considering the specific learner groups that you teach and the educational setting where your learners study. By taking these important aspects of your work into account, the course ensures that development activity is relevant to your work.

The course is centred around teaching materials and resources, which are at the heart of any educational activity. Participants follow a process of evaluation, adaptation, creation and delivery of teaching resources, and work with the existing materials that they use every day, as well as the development of new materials which fit the needs of their learners more closely, based on effective principles of TESOL and educational theory.

The Language Point CertPT course is designed to be delivered entirely online, making it accessible to teachers all over the world, working in any educational context. The best practice theories which are presented on the course are applicable to any ESOL setting, and can be tailored to fit the learners that teachers work with.

The study timetable is organised according to participant teachers’ availability, with between 8 and 15 hours per week of study time, depending on the course length that they study (5 weeks or 10 weeks). This makes the CertPT course that we offer a flexible solution to help teachers work and study at the same time.
