Working in China in 2023

Language Point Trinity CertTESOL working in China in 2023

If you've been thinking of travelling to China to teach, and have been waiting for restrictions to end to have the opportunity to experience this amazing country, and culture, then the announcement from the Chinese National Health Commission that quarantine free arrival restarts from January 8th 2023 is the clear signal to get planning.

See our jobs page for positions with Teach in China in public schools, from kindergarten to high school, all over China. There currently is an extraordinarily high demand for teachers and many positions to fill.

If you don't already have an internationally-recognised teaching qualification, which is a requirement to teach in China, you will need to get an initial certificate in TESOL such as the Trinity College London CertTESOL, which can be taken in an online-only mode in 12 weeks.

For more specific types of teaching in professional or academic settings, it is worth doing some research into the professional, academic and language needs of Chinese learners and the role of English for Chinese students in those settings. If you are an experienced teacher, a development qualification such as the Trinity College London Certificate for Practising Teachers can help you to do this.

The Trinity CertPT focuses on the design and delivery of materials for specific groups of learners in specific learning settings, so it is a really effective way of developing your skills to work with Chinese students. Read more about how the CertPT applies to international school teachers here.

For the right teachers with the right experience and skills, China's opening up is an incredible opportunity to be part of the continued development of the largest education industry in the world.
