If you are looking for professional development in the English language education field where you work, the Level 6 Trinity Certificate for Practising Teachers is a flexible qualification which can give you what you need. The Trinity CertPT is designed to help teachers working with second-language English students in any educational field or discipline. See below for a list of specialisms which teachers can develop through this qualification.
The CertPT course run by Language Point contains core teacher education content covering the following areas of teaching and learning:
Materials evaluation, adaptation, design and delivery
Classroom management
Presenting and practising language
Enhancing classroom interaction
Raising engagement levels
Reflecting on teaching choices
In addition to this, teachers on our CertPT courses must outline the needs of the specific students who they teach, meaning that you define your own development path for the settings where you work. Through a combination of research, online tasks and live tutorials, our trainers will guide you to develop in areas which are relevant to your students and their needs.
The course is open to teachers with a language level of CEFR B2 and above, with 6 months or more of classroom experience, who work in the following specialisms within English Language Education:
For anyone working in English Language Education online, our CertPT for online educators provides guidance and stimulus for research into online pedagogy and andragogy, online learning methodologies and ways of designing, adapting and creating online teaching resources for individual students and/or groups being taught online. See our graduate stories for examples of how the CertPT has helped previous online educators to develop their skills
"Since the course, I have spoken at the IATEFL BESIG conference about the concept for my final assignment (my first ever conference talk), I also spoke at the Inter ELTA conference in Germany about the use of online tools in online teaching, I’ve developed a social media presence and I’ve just set up a blog. For me, this course triggered my creativity and inspired me (and gave me the confidence) to start speaking and writing about my ideas. I really do recommend it!”

Primary and secondary ESOL or EAL teachers
The CertPT for Language Educators can focus on specific school settings, ways of working with large and monolingual groups of students, ways of ensuring positive assessment outcomes, raising assessment literacy for teachers, and the evaluation, adaptation and creation of effective, curriculum-based teaching resources for students working in your setting. See our graduate stories for experiences from secondary teachers of ESOL who have benefited from the course.
“The CertPT course has equipped me to be a much more effective teacher of online ESOL classes. I learnt a great deal in a very short amount of time in which I was exposed to many different theories, methodologies and techniques that I can adapt to the needs of my learners. The tutors are incredibly knowledgeable and are keen to share that knowledge and provide feedback. I felt very supported during this course and would recommend it to teachers wanting to develop their teaching skills.”

See our graduate stories for examples of EAP teachers who have developed through this qualification.
"Our tutor provided helpful and timely feedback as well as regular group and individual tutorials – I felt well-supported and encouraged throughout the course. I learnt a lot, which I’m already putting into practice as I prepare to write materials for the upcoming semester!”
